T minus 10 days until Mmerci Encore, the little artisinal aromatherapy atelier that could ships off for a sojourn to Niyama in the Maldives.
If you’ve been following us for awhile, you’ll know that we’re all about the little things bathing and bedtime rituals. Nothing like coming home after a long day or off a long-haul flight to sink into the bath, completely unwind and get cosy for bed.
And because it’s harder to chill out on some days than others, there’s aromatherapy to help you replenish the skin and the senses, wick away stress, and hopefully add the feelgood factor to any beauty or grooming regimen.
What could set you up better for the next day than a little me time?
Niyama made it to Conde Nast Traveller‘s Hot List for 2013 and already thought of the 24 hour (!) Lime Spa is making our toes curl with delight. Cannot wait to take our little bag of aromatherapy preparations on the road.
Sunshine and crystalline waters, here we come! Dreaming with my eyes wide open here…
Body clock’s all messed up. Crashed at 3pm to awake at 5pm to work on six candles and almost there (it’s 1030pm! Bye Saturday!)
Think I freaked out my neighbour’s kids earlier. Had to hammer giant blocks of beeswax candles for a super awesome upcycling Christmas candle project so took the hulking piece and a hammer out to the yard where I ran into the kids.
“Hey guys.”
“Hi.”
“Love the Dora the Explorer dress.” (Honestly, I miss the age where it was ok to go to the shops in your PJs).
“Thanks.”
After our ‘moment’, I walked to a concrete slab and started bashing the crap out of the kilos of wax with two hands on the hammer. Their mum, no doubt convinced there was probably a skull in my ziplock ushered her kids inside quickly. Sorry guys!
Guess it doesn’t matter though, the wax makes the place smells AMAZING and I can’t wait for these to finally light up.
Super stoked that we’ve gotten the bulk of our Christmas orders out, every day we inch closer to our long anticipated vacay. Joy and I were wrapping gifts and kits until the wee hours last night. Go local, go homemade, go handmade.
SPEAKING OF NEAT GIFT IDEAS I mean, besides our own customisable aromatherapy gifts & kits, currently loving Paper & Chain, Fresh Tangerine.
AND IN OTHER NEWS Time’s a funny thing. Tagged along to the purchase of a girlfriend’s first watch the other day: a Hublot (look, I don’t know the model, but it’s black with a croc strap). We must have spent several hours and wrapped the deal with dinner but it was such a nice evening. It’s true what they say. When you spend time with people you love, it barely feels like any time at all. Instead of feeling tired and drained, even having spent hours in their company, you’re nothing but light and happy.

A huge year. Before we kicked off at the Carrie K Atelier last Saturday, I did morning errands and got to cross some things off my guilty pleasures list, namely:
- grabbed my morning coffee after a round of Ya Kun soft boiled eggs & toast, because I like my breakfast runny & sliding off a 3cm slab of cold butter
- did the weekly grocery shop
- all the other Saturday stuff you do like go to the florist and wag guitar class for the third week in a row (I will never play with a capo it’s been determined)
- nanna napped for 20 minutes … all to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Know.
Got to meet some really lovely people including Victoria Herrera and the entire Carrie K team. Absolutely LOVED seeing the gorgeous faces of very supportive friends of the Atelier. It was incredible to see people’s eyes roll to the back of their heads with delight as they discovered an essential oil that spoke to them.
The day confirmed how blessed I am to have such amazing people around me. Like how did I realise that Amelia C was the business? When I called her for a muscle relaxant and she rocked up with a calculator & bottle of champagne. My extra pair of hands, Norman decided it’d be brilliant to give everyone mini hand treatments with our spa-in-a-jar organic sugar scrubs. It was the happiest ending this side of town.
And to think this was all some secret, unspoken dream at one time. After all those hours of prepping the blends and soaps, it’s nice to see those products go to good homes. Thank you everyone for making the day so special.

Until then, I am turning up my Swedish House Mafia and making essential oil-infused soap like there’s no tomorrow. Birthday girl Joy’s hand-finishing all the labels tomorrow. In yo’ face, hipsters.
EVERY DAY IS THANKSGIVING here. But this special shout out goes to some very big-hearted friends of mine who insisted they be a part of the Carrie K Keepers event: Amelia, Norman, Dr Kai, & dear Joy. Not forgetting Team Carrie K themselves: Carolyn, Shona, Grace. I pray God fills you with 100-fold blessings for the absolute gift you’ve been to me. Ball so hard.
CURRENT OBSESSIONS The Glee version of Human Nature, pasta for breakfast (go on: judge me), sleep, Joyce Meyer podcasts, being the last person on earth to not have watched Skyfall, my pasta (it’s improving, marginally), Christmas in Melbourne: happen already.
