Printing Ink

This is a fascinating look at how ink is made. I love going behind-the-scenes to understand the process and the craft behind things.

Blank Space

Milan Fair may be over for the year, but our obsession with beautiful design pieces continues. It all started many years ago with a visit to the Triennale and Villa Necchi Campiglio and we’ve never looked back since.

Now that we can check the limited edition Series 7s by Arne Jacobson for Fritz Hansen for the office off the list, we’ll soon be moving on to lights and other fittings. Picking up a copy of Architectural Digest every month be like HERE TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!! The rest will have to exist in our Pinterest life. You know the one where Joseph Dirand, Kelly Wearstler and Ryan Korban collaborated on our space. Yeah, that life hee hee.

Here’s some interiors porn to feast your eyes on… What are you current design loves? Tell us @mmerciencore.

Your Invitation to Party

Any collab is a chance to party!

When I was a journalist, I travelled to Indonesia with a fellow beauty editor who had the most stunning jewel-encrusted jade necklace… turns out, it was a piece she designed with Choo Yilin and I loved it for its totally contemporary take on what is otherwise perceived as old and trad. It looked like nothing seen before and that commissioned piece has always stuck with me.

Fast forward to 2014 and this coming weekend, on Saturday 26 July and Sunday 27 July 2014, from 11 am to 6 pm, sustainable luxury jewellery label Choo Yilin celebrates its official boutique opening with at the brand’s first standalone retail space.

Artisanal businesses will converge in a luxury heritage market at the conservation shophouse, treating guests with local-inspired gourmet desserts, teas, cocktails, aromatherapy by Mmerci Encore and florals.

Luxurious artisanal goods are up for grabs in a lucky draw of the artisans’ best-sellers including a Choo Yilin modern day heirloom jade bangle worth $888, Mmerci Encore artisanal aromatherapy gift sets worth $200, Strictly Pastry dessert hampers including GSH conserves worth $100, a.muse projects tea gift packs worth $50, and HIEW Floral.Gifts.Home personalised bouquets.

The two-day party is open to the public and entry is complimentary with the dresscode ‘Heritage Chic’, where the best dressed person will walk away with an exclusive gift.

We’re thrilled to be part of this. Come check us out for some special ‘offline’ treats (wink, wink). In addition to our best-selling hits, we’ll also be bringing down our a few surprises for you to enjoy. See you there! x

Anywhere I Lay My Head

Dreamy home inspiration for the nomad that I am.

As as kid, I read a piece on the late New York socialite, Nan Kemper and her fabulous Sunday night spaghetti dinners. I like to think that hosting all those people cross-legged on the floor of my apartment was a little hat tip to that. Small giddy-headed gatherings of the fashion press variety before Kinfolk and artisanal coffees became A Thing.

We’d take off our Prada heels and pull out some crazy vintage champagne someone had given us as a gift that week and eat pizza on the floor.

That life is slowly coming to an end. Soon, and I shudder at the thought – I may have to leave my Neverland and get a microwave and do all those grown up adult things like buy a dining table (it’s funny, this house is packed to the rafters with books and art, perfumes and essential oils, clothes, decorative tchotchkes – everything it seems but a microwave and dining table. It’s like the modern girl’s opium den, really. I literally lose myself for hours here on the weekends).

I don’t know what the future has in store but until then, all my shelter mags have been put aside because it’s torture to read them. Still, there is a spark and if I had to hazard a wish, I’d want something Joseph Dirand inspired. In love with his aesthetic.
